18

This post should have been up even earlier -.- hehe yk and I celebrated 18months at Nook! 🙂 It’s actually more than a month back. We went there after the career fair in school and were armed with lots of barang barang. LOL, those freebies from school la.

Nook – DIY House of Pancakes
21 Lorong Kilat #01-03 (a few shops down from Carpenter and Cook)
Very useful info on how to get there and opening hours:

We went for the DIY pancakes buffet that lasted from 3pm to 6pm! Kids-$8, Students-$10, Adults-$12, GST not inclusive. HAHAHA I think I wore like I was from my workplace (with shirt and pants due to career fair) and the person didn’t believe I was a student until I showed my student pass. LOL.

There’s quite a few flavours for the batter to choose from, original buttermilk, pandan, strawberry, chocolate etc but we choose the original one and pandan one! There’s butter and chocolate sauce on the table already, so the rest of the toppings you have to walk to the front and take it using the small metal cups/bowls to choose!

heat is adjustable

Let the DIY-ing begin! We were so excited to get started so our first few shapes were rather normal like circles before we really started doodling. And one of the staff asked us if we want to take a photo!! 🙂

MR CLOWN

We finished the two bottles of batter quite fast though. So we asked for refill. When we said to refill both, I think the person was like, “Do you want to refill half instead?” Should have listened -.- ate until super full lor. Yeah we didn’t want to be charged for wastage, so we did roti jala to try and use finish. Anyway the heat of the stove is adjustable, so don’t wory about burning your pancakes, because apparently they never will. We turned up the heat but we still had some time to take photos of what we doodled.

Some useful tips
– come armed with your own water unless you’re okay with paying (think $1 or $0.50 I can’t rmb)
– I think half refill will be better
– don’t think they charge wastage if you didn’t finish your first bottle

We didn’t pay extra for the water because we had 3 bottles of water from the career fair! We downed 2 bottles in total. Totally lighten our load man!! Too ambitious thinking we could finish 4 bottles of batter -.- In the end we overate, AS USUAL. Overall, even though we were just eating flour (pancakes) but there’s fun in DIY-ing your own pancakes and not having to clean up the mess! 🙂

Iron Man 3

Caught Iron Man 3 yesterday and it was awesomeeeeee!! I didn’t watch Iron Man 2 due to time constraint but after watching avengers, Iron Man 3 was not to be missed!! Basically the whole thing was he threatened a terrorist by the name of “Mandarin” and in the end they blew up his house because he gave them his address as well -.- oh wells, enough spoilers, go to Wikipedia to read if you want! But the class of Starks was there, flashy cars, equipments, and I really love Starks technology, JARVIS (Just A Really Very Intelligent System)! Stay till the very end, even after credits for some Starks thoughts! 🙂

We used passion card to purchase our movie tickets and got a free small popcorn. You have to purchase at least two tickets to get the popcorn. Lol. If we used our student cards, it would have been 2 small cokes. Both ways are $7 as well.

Headed to Xi Men Jie for some Taiwanese delights instead of our usual Pontian wanton mee because we wanted to try something new!! It’s been opened for quite a few years already but ytd was the first time I’m trying!!

Xi Men Jie
#01-42 Westmall
(Next to subway, facing Bukit Batok MRT station)

We ordered the crabmeat and chicken mee sua ($4) and I really like mine with some vinegar and pepper, adding spring onions beefed up the taste as well. Halfway through, we ordered fried chicken to go with our meal, hehe super alot we took quite awhile to finish. Decided to get some gongcha because I was thirsty! Lemon Kumquat 80% was really too sweet -.- and so it’s like sweet + sour and we were still eating our fried chicken -> salty and spicy, we got all 4 different tastes covered.

Brunch at Carpenter and Cook

Long overdued post!!

Met up with Abigail, MW and SQ back in Jan on the 13th before nus started school on the 14th and me to go back to studying for stochastic exam. We decided on Carpenter and Cook because it’s nearer to SQ’s house and cz she wants somewhere nearer to her house!

Carpenter and Cook
19 Lorong Kilat #01-06 Singapore 598120
Tuesdays – Fridays: 12pm – 10pm
Saturdays: 10am – 10pm
Sundays: 10am – 7pm
Closed on Mondays

There’s quite alot of bus stops near there, so it depends from which direction you’re coming. For me, I came from the westmall direction, you can board buses (66, 157, 174, 985 etc but these are the only ones I know) from the bus stop opposite blk 628, the one near CSC clubhouse. I’m not sure where to stop also because I stopped by gut feeling and by counting the number of bus stops after SQ’s house. That row of shops was quite quiet, but probably because it’s sunday noon.

There’s only quiches, sandwiches, tarts and pastries available throughout, other than the coffee etc. So for a fuller meal, we went with quiches, sandwiches and a tart to round up our brunch! 🙂 There’s not alot of seats but 3 communal tables where you will need to share with other people during peak hours. They have quaint furniture and not all the sets of cutlery, plates and cups are the same!! Kinda unique!!

Mushroom quiche was nice! But there’s onion inside so I’m not such a big fan of it.. Haha. But the quiche was soft crispy and I like it! We tried lemon tart as our dessert and uh… not such a big fan of it because lemon is just sour but the tart was awesome!

Lai Kee Dimsum for brunch

Had brunch with yk today at Bukit batok! Googled for cheap dimsum (got cravings and can be anywhere so long the price is reasonable) and came across ieatishootipost’s post on Lai Kee. Decided to give it a go since its near my house! Initially opted for the Clementi branch cz I didn’t read properly the first time but realized its too far away from the nearest mrt station Clementi, so crossed my fingers that the BB one would be nearer. And it is!! So we settled for that!

They have it at 3 different outlets though.
-107 Clementi street 12
-207 Bukit batok street 21 (5-7mins walk from Bukit batok mrt)
-Bedok (not too sure)

haha, the Clementi and BB address like so similar right! I got confused.

The BB’s one located at a coffee shop which seems to be renovated for not long. It’s the first stall! The queue was incoming most of the time but died down when it’s almost noon.

Anyway we had custard buns (virgin tries for it), Chee Cheong fun (with lots of prawns and its only $2++), siew Mai, har gau, porridge and an egg tart! hehe the whole meal costs about $13! 😉 hehe.

Price list for some reference! It’s reasonably priced la haha.
